Anya Taylor-Joy is no stranger to drama when it comes to her red carpet looks. From embellished chokers to glittering crowns, we stan a girl who loves a glam moment as much as we do. So, it comes as no surprise that her debut at the Daytime Emmy Awards had her stunning the crowd in Dior Haute Couture.

Equally as breathtaking was her hair and makeup. Her long, golden mane was styled into a sophisticated up-do, and accessorised in Tiffany & Co jewels. As for her mien, she channelled major Queen’s Gambit Beth Harmon vibes with a bold red lip. Makeup artist, Georgie Eisdell, explains that the inspiration for Anya’s look came from her exquisite Dior gown. “ I kept her eyes soft and classic to complement the pale yellow gown and chose a bright red lip, which perfectly complements her yellow opera coat and jewels.”

Step 1: The dewy complexion

Eisdell prepped Anya’s clean skin with the Dior Capture Totale C.E.L.L. Energy Super Potent Serum and the Dior Capture Dreamskin Care & Perfect. This ensures a smooth canvas to work on, and guarantees that makeup stays on through sweat, humidity, and the like. As for her foundation, Eisdell combined three products to create the perfect base: The Dior Forever Skin Glow in shade #0N; the Dior Forever Skin Correct in shade #1N; and the new Dior Forever Cushion Powder in #010 Fair. “Then I used the Dior Backstage Contour Palette for dimension, and applied the Dior Rouge Blush #361 Millefiori for a bit of colour to her cheeks,” she dished.

Step 2: The subtle eyeshadow 

To accentuate but still achieve the soft look for Anya’s eyes, Eisdell applied the Diorshow Mono Couleur Couture in #530 Tulle and #480 Poncho to her lids for shadow, and then coated her top and bottom lashes with the Diorshow Mascara #090 Pro Black. For Anya’s signature arched brows, Eisdell defined them with the Diorshow Brow Styler in shade #011 Blonde.

Step 3: The signature pout

Last but not least, Eisdell detailed how she achieved Anya’s statement red lip that sealed the deal. The key to a red lip is careful application in order to get those lips crisply lined for a perfect pout. “ I created a statement red lip with the Dior Contour #090 Red Smile and the Rouge Dior Ultra Care Liquid #999 to complete her look.”
