Getting sartorial: These watches are totes Seoul Fashion Week street style material
Seoul cool
A flash fever has just swept through Seoul as fashion week came and went, bringing with it a flock of fashionistas and the ensuing entourage of cameras, fans, and the odd lurker or two. With our fashion team on-ground in South Korea getting front row access to the street style parade, the ace snaps of stylish threads have fed the inspo stream of team Buro — including us horology-inclined folks. Naturally, we had to look-see every shot and dissect which timepieces would totally elevate those outfits. Below, our shortlist of the sartorially savvy cool kids and the watches they ought to rock:
1. Black is badass
Shoutout to our Friend of Buro, Nicole Wong, for slaying Seoul Fashion Week in unrelieved black and white. And the timepiece to add another more points to her killer street cred is none other than the out-there Hublot Big Bang Unico Sapphire.
2. Hello Kitty meets Hello Kitty
How often do you see a grown man owning (accents) of baby pink and Hello Kitty like he was born for it? You know it; we just had to pair this outfit with the new RJ-Romain Jerome x Hello Kitty watch.
3. Neon power
Props if you can pull off looking like a walking highlighter yet still inspire the masses to get in on this head turning colour. Fittingly, the Bell & Ross Horolum BR03-92 is also all kinds of glowy, with its intensified Superluminova numerals and hands.
4. Runway ready
We meant aviation runway, obviously. It's the IWC Schaffhausen Pilot's Watch Mark XVIII Heritage for sure (in a brown dial, aka the Antoine de Saint Exupéry edition), what with that shearling jacket and the brown-tan colour palette to bring on the feels of a vintage flight suit. Midriff baring not compulsory.
5. A brocade affair
A dapper dandy is a quite a sight at SFW — this street style species is more commonly spotted during Milan's Pitti Uomo. For such a sharply dressed gent who matched his button-down to his blazer to his pocket square, the Hermès Arceau Pocket Watch Volutes is the piece to sit pretty upon his left breast.
6. Tartan twinsies
Otherwise known as how to nail the couple T-shirt trope without coming off as an eyerolling cliché. Perfectly complementing this show of plaid would be Vacheron's Métiers d'Art Élégance Satoriale in the tennis striped pattern. Also, mixing in bits of atheleisure is key.
7. It's in the details
Are we the only ones who drew parallels between the Nicolaus Copernicus-inspired Chamber of Wonders from Girard-Perregaux and this getup? A miniature painting dial rich with minutiae is the just the thing to further raise the visual stakes.
8. I see stars
Technically there's no qualifier on the right occasion to sport the Audemars Piguet Diamond Outrage, but wearing an indigo jumper embellished with a seemingly supernova planet Jupiter would do it. Plus those thigh-high pink boots and the rocker skirt vibes a similar 'I'm-pretty-but-I-mean-business' aesthetic, just like this spiked-up jewellery watch.
