If Game of Thrones characters had watches, what would they be wearing?

From dragons and knights, to lions and Valyrian steel, Game of Thrones fans will be thrilled by these watches

It's finally over, Season 7 of Game of Thrones, and who do we have left to finish the War of the Five Kings? The Lannisters, represented by Cersei, still rule Westeros although dear Jaime has abandoned her in search of White Walkers to fight, and Tyrion finds himself drawn to Danaerys's cause, which has never looked stronger.

But any plans to seize the Iron Throne will have to be put on hold for now as Dany has pledged herself to join Jon Snow in fending off the Night King's invasion. The loss of Viserion was tragic but viewers were equal parts ecstatic and horrified by his resurrection by the Night King, who GoT theorists have speculated was a warging Bran all along. The Stark sisters have, thankfully, united and rid themselves of Little Finger's treacherous presence and the Greyjoys... oh who cares about the Greyjoys.

Now that the R+L=J theory has been proven to be true, plus Gilly's uncovering of Jon Snow's true lineage, plus that awkward sex scene, it's almost certain that Jon, I mean Aegon, will eventually come to command Rhaegal while Dany continues to fly with Drogon. But the dragon has three heads, so who will be the third? The Night King? Young Griff? Tyrion? Someone completely unexpected? So. Many. Questions!

Until Season 8 premieres, there's little else to do other than twiddle our thumbs, parse through fan theories – the Internet is rife with them – or stay entertained with GoT themed games like this quiz here that tells you from which Game of Thrones House do you belong. Meanwhile, we have a little fun with fine timepieces and the Game of Thrones characters best suited to wear them.

Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle 14-Day Tourbillon "Dragon"
Danaerys Vacheron Constantin

Keeping up with the Targaryens becomes a little easier with this exotic timepiece. Sure, the dragon carving on the dial looks like it had emerged from the Chinese celestial courts rather than Old Valyria, but since it promises to bring its owner good luck and fortune, who's complaining? Like Dany, this watch is beautiful on the outside and complex on the inside with a 14-day tourbillon movement gorgeously decorated with the traditional techniques of watch finishing. Its case, too, is covered with exquisite hand-engraving. Incredibly rare, there are only eight of these watches in the world.

Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute Lion

Game of Thrones Cersei Lannister's watch

Those luscious golden locks of hers may have been chopped off ever since the Walk of Atonement but Cersei is still a lion through and through, and this majestic timepiece ought to keep her reminded, and prideful, of that fact. The large 43mm case size makes it more ideal for men but since when has gender issues ever prevented the Golden Queen from getting what she wants?

Roger Dubuis Excalibur Knights of the Round Table II
Jaime Roger Dubuis

Since the beginning of the series, Jaime has face mored moral and ethical dilemmas than any other character, but in spite of everything, we know that his heart is in the right place. With 12 relief engraved gold knights around the dial, this elaborate timepiece will serve to keep his conscience and morals in check. That it's named after the legendary sword of King Arthur, will not be lost on a man like the Kingslayer.

Christophe Claret X-Trem 1 Damascus Steel
Jon Christophe Claret

There are only a handful of known Valyrian steel weapons left in all of Westeros and Jon Snow's sword, Longclaw, is one of them. Its distinctive rippled pattern makes this material easily recognised and it is said to remain sharp forever without the need for honing. This Christophe Claret timepiece is cased in Damascus steel which bears the same moiré aesthetics as its fictional counterpart.

IWC Da Vinci Automatic Moon Phase 36

Game of Thrones Arya Stark's watch

This newly-revived collection includes models designed expressly for women. But true to IWC's identity, the pieces are not overtly feminine, which means they're perfect for a tomboy like Arya Stark. At 36mm and equipped with movable lugs, this example would fit the wolf girl's skinny wrist perfectly and the moon phase display comes in handy should Arya's heart be pining for her direwolf, Nymeria.

Ulysse Nardin Classico Zheng He
Greyjoy Ulysse Nardin
Ever proud of their rule over the Iron Islands, the Greyjoys have complete dominion over the seas. Heck, they pray to a Drowned God. Thus it's fitting that members of this House wear something like the Ulysse Nardin Classico Zheng He. Depicting the Zheng He Treasure Boat using grand feu enamel, this timepiece is one out of a collection of four maritime themed models. Other variations showcased historical vessels like the Pride of Baltimore, the Amerigo Vespucci, and the Kruzenshtern.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 Ice Blue Dial
Night's King Rolex
We simply can't exclude the Night's King in this round-up, not at this point in the story, and especially when there's a watch as perfect for him as this one. This is the guy responsible for all those wights and White Walkers and for turning Viserion into a zombie ice dragon. We think this Rolex Day-Date with an ice blue dial will really bring out his eyes, don't you think?

Tudor Black Bay Dark
Night's Watch Tudor
Now that the Wall has finally come crumbling down, members of the Night's Watch have really got to get their act together. Rangers especially would be well served by this stealthy black PVD Tudor model with a snowflake hour hand – how very apt. A watch like this ought to be standard issue for everyone who chose to take the black.
