RJ-Romain Jerome proudly presents ARRAW, its first signature collection

Here's your close-up of the RJ ARRAW collection, the maison’s first core lineup inspired by marine elements

Call them whacky or genius (or both, because the best geniuses are a bit whacky), but RJ-Romain Jerome knows how to do conversation pieces the more traditional watchmakers would baulk at. Thanks to the independent maison's creative and collaborative modus operandi, horology has seen unexpected characters the likes of Hello Kitty, Batman, Mario, and even the classic video game Tetris gracing luxury watchmaking.

Certainly the face of noncore watches, RJ sure likes keeping everyone on its toes — and it doesn't get more surprising than the announcement of its own core collection, ARRAW, which embodies the brand's passion and commitment to sophistication and distinctiveness — albeit with a more classic appearance. Taking inspiration from RJ's elemental-based design aesthetic — made up of four different universes known as Marine, Earth, Air, and Space —  the signature collection specifically focuses on the Marine part of the quartet. Anchor-shaped indexes, lugs that resemble the screws on a ship, push buttons reminiscent of pistons from a ship's engine room, and a helix shell engraving on the caseback decorate each of the four unisex chronograph watches, available in either 42mm or 45mm sizes.

On top of these marine-inspired touches, the case sports the rubber bezel bumpers unique to RJ, with the same rubber acting as an accents on the lugs and on the water-resistant screw-in crown. A dial with a sun-brushed, galvanized, gradient-painted, and lacquer-coated finish is encased within, providing a visual depth and contrast to the black chronograph counters and the satin-looking, arrow-shaped hands.

Another first to be had with the ARRAW collection? It utilises the self-winding RJ-2040 chronograph movement, an integration of the maison's own in-house calibre. Said RJ's CEO, Marco Tedeschi: "I am proud to present ARRAW, RJ's first core collection. ARRAW watches are a true modernisation of the RJ design philosophy, and constitute the foundation for further development as we integrate our own manufacture movements. ARRAW will enable us to bring our DNA and Collaboration concepts to the next level."

The ARRAW collection is now available at official RJ retailers worldwide.
