Hermès unveils the Only Watch edition of the Slim d’Hermès L’heure Impatiente
Fast forward four months post-BaselWorld where we first clapped eyes on the Slim d'Hermès L'heure Impatiente and the watch now comes dressed in a charcoal suit, ready to take its place as one of 49 unique timepieces for the Only Watch charity auction. With bids that benefit a great cause, namely the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research which seeks a cure for the genetic disorder affecting young boys from as early as age three, it's fitting that the L'heure Impatiente — Hermès Horloger's frontrunner for 2017 — is the hero timepiece taking the auction podium.
And in what seems to be a turn of kismet, the concept behind the L'heure Impatiente resonates with the charitable cause to a T. That is, setting a timer for an upcoming event (the biennial Only Watch auction, of course) and the anticipation behind the time spent waiting for it (a.k.a. the 'Impatient Hour') becomes a jubilant ritual. Besides moulding time into an objet d'art with its singular 'Impatient Hour' function, the Only Watch version retains all of its distinct and playful charms, from its sunburst chapter ring and the opaline silvered 'impatient hour' sector and 12-hour disc to the velvety, modulated chime of its striking mechanism. On top of flaunting a new graphite skin with yellow burnishing, this one-of-a-kind L'heure Impatiente is also powered by the same mechanical self-winding H1912 Manufacture Hermès movement, making it a creative complication worth every philanthropic penny.
The Hermès L'heure Impatiente Only Watch edition will go on auction on 11 November. Click here for more information.
