Natalie Portman may be the next Thor but her Richard Mille watch is 100% Spidey
Oh My Goddess
First there's Lashana Lynch as the first female Agent 007, and now we have Natalie Portman as Thor, excuse us, Mighty Thor. Wow, 2019 is really not holding back on the surprises – and we're only halfway done with the year.
Speaking at the San Diego Comic Con, Portman was dressed in a black sparkly gothic print Dior dress, and accessorised with the magical hammer Mjolnir as she joked: "Remember this as the before picture for when I get jacked."
We loved her look but wished she had completed it with the Richard Mille RM19-01 Manual Winding Tourbillon Spider. After all, Portman had helped design it. Yep it was her idea to create spider-motif bridges sitting atop a base plate crafted in the style of a spider web.
Why a spider? Because underneath the arachnid's scariness and hairiness, the actress sees them as a symbol of protection. We also think it's a fantastic tattoo design.
Launched in 2014, the RM19-01 Natalie Portman in white gold with diamonds was a 20-piece limited edition. All 20 were sold in an instant, benefiting not Richard Mille, but the Free the Children charity. Portman is an ambassador for Richard Mille as well as Free the Children.
After the initial model, Richard Mille continued to create new versions of the RM19-01 including two versions exclusive to Asia in 2015.
