Better together

The Swiss watchmaker designs their classic Portofino model in pairs showing that two is, indeed, better than one

In celebration of love, IWC Schaffhausen is releasing eight contrasting pairs of watches, varying from a minimal 18-carat red gold case to a stainless-steel case lavishly set with diamonds. As IWC's prominent model, the state-of-the-art Portofino comes in the classic Automatic, as well as the Automatic 37 — designed with a sleeker 37-millimetre case instead of the more classic 40-millimetre version. With the intention of uniting lovers through these exclusive timepieces, the Portofino For Two is a wonderful (not to mention luxurious) addition for any lovebirds.

What stands out: Every Portofino model runs on a solid mechanical automatic movement with a water resistance of three bars and is guaranteed 42 hours of precision running. Additionally, renowned Italian shoe manufacturer Santoni produced the alligator leather watch straps, resulting in nuanced colours that will only gain an enviable patina with time.

For the edgier couples, Couple No. 1 features the Automatic in a stainless steel case, black dial and black alligator strap while the Automatic 37 features a 66 diamond-bezeled stainless steel case slate-coloured dial and black alligator leather strap.

Vintage lovers would be right at home with Couple No. 3 — both models are encased in 18-carat red gold, silver-plated dial and accompanied by dark brown alligator leather straps. A key difference? The Automatic 37 comes with 12 spectacular diamonds on the dial, specially for the ladies.
