The Hublot Big Bang Meca-10 P2P Limited Edition is targeted at Bitcoin owners
Christmas comes early for Bitcoin owners who are interested in a Hublot watch. The dynamic Swiss watch brand is the first luxury watch company in the world to offer its products for purchase exclusively with Bitcoins. The Big Bang Meca-10 P2P Limited Edition celebrates 10 years since the invention of Bitcoin by the anonymous creator named Satoshi Nakamoto, who's apparently worth $19.4 billion, which is the value ascribed to the 980,000 bitcoins he or she is said to own.
Working with OS Limited, Asia's leading digital asset brokerage, Hublot will make the Big Bang Meca-10 P2P Limited Edition available only through e-commerce. You can order and pay for it strictly online. A 210-piece limited edition, this ultra-sporty model has a 45mm case made from microblasted black ceramic. Hublot uses high tech ceramic which is highly scratch resistant, lightweight and hypoallergenic. But why 210 pieces only? That's a reference to the global limit of Bitcoins which is fixed at 21 million.
Through its open-worked dial, you can see the in-house manufactured movement Calibre HUB 1201. Its 10-day power reserve – a nod to Bitcoin's 10th anniversary – may be read off the red-and-green indicator, along with a countdown window at six o'clock displaying number of days.
To add a unique touch on each watch sold and give the wearer extra bragging rights, the timepiece will bear the identification number of the transaction made via Bitcoin. A final tribute to cryptocurrency can be found in the Blockchain-inspired design on the blue calfskin leather strap, which is lined with black rubber.
The Hublot Big Bang Meca-10 P2P Limited Edition is available for purchase exclusively online via a unique payment system that enables Hublot to accept payment in Bitcoin. Its price has yet to be fixed, but you can register online to receive more information.
