These female-centric timepieces offer stellar complications dressed in precious stones

It's complicated

Don't let the sparkly diamonds on the Bvlgari Diva's Dream Finissima Minute Repeater fool you. Hidden underneath the dazzling stones and aventurine dial is the BVL 362 calibre, Bvlgari's thinnest minute repeater movement. In recent years, the Italian brand has been proving its watchmaking expertise with grand complications as well as record-breaking movements engineered to be as slim as possible. While these horological chops are usually shown off within the men's universe, Bvlgari has clearly not forgotten its female fans, and has equipped its Diva's Dream collection with the ultra-thin minute repeater movement, BVL 362. Diamonds stud the fan-inspired lugs and charm (which is connected to the minute repeater slider), bezels, hour indications and the outer rim of the seconds counter. The overall effect is quite decadent, especially when matched with the sparkling aventurine dial and white gold case. The watch comes in a limited edition of 10 pieces.

Roger Dubuis Excalibur Shooting Star

Roger Dubuis
As evinced by the launches in recent years, women are no longer content with a quartz-equipped timepiece lavished with precious stones. There is clearly demand for female-centric watches with technical knowhow dressed in a powerful, feminine guise. Roger Dubuis has heard the cries of its female fans, and has released the Excalibur Shooting Star - the Excalibur collection is typically masculine in nature, with its brawny looks, skeletonised movements and complications such as tourbillons and flying tourbillons. Roger Dubuis has dedicated two years of research and development to recalibrate the RD510SQ movement to fit into the 36mm case of the Excalibur Shooting Star, which features a flying tourbillon and skeletonised dial. True to its name, an enamelled star is followed closely by its tail, which is studded with diamonds. The timepiece is available in either blue or pink, and 28 pieces of each version.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph

We imagine that the Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph is going to very popular with both men and women, given its rainbow sapphire bezel. The 37mm timepiece is wrought in rose gold, with the same pinkish-beige tone extending to the smoked pink gold-toned dial and the rubber strap. Somehow, with the rainbow coloured sapphires on the bezel, it all comes together in one harmonious package, elevated only by Lady Tapisserie pattern on the dial, and the sportiness of the chronograph counters.
