Choo Yilin embraces Singapore’s cultural diversity with the new Kebaya collection
Made famous by our nation's flight attendants as well as a handful of other neighbouring airlines, the humble kebaya has gone far and wide repping our Southeast Asian pride as one of the most recognisable icons this side of the world. So it doesn't take a genius to realise it's only a matter of time before homegrown atelier Choo Yilin — famed for its Peranakan-inspired collections — parlays this regional symbol into a jewellery edit.
Capturing the rich weave of this traditional outfit, the Kebaya collection features the intricacy of hand-sewn batik motifs construed into detailed filigree crafted by hand. Wrought with a fine technique, the metalwork comes in sterling silver and solid 9K or 18K gold options to befit various occasions, be it for everyday wear or as an heirloom piece you plan to keep and pass down in the family. The same meticulous craftsmanship seen across all Choo Yilin creations is similarly reflected in every refined curve of the brand's signature Type A Jadeite cut into ear studs, rings, necklaces and bangles. To further echo the vibrancy of the kebaya cloth, each jewellery piece is embellished with precious gems of various colours. Now this is a legacy collection to be worn loud and proud.
