Have you seen the Chanel J12 pop up at Ion Orchard?
Maybe you've noticed it already, but if you're in town this week, be sure to swing by Ion Orchard's outdoor atrium. The Chanel J12 pop up has set up shop in that space for a very limited time. Dedicated to the maison's de facto timekeeping icon, the store immerses you in the world of J12.
Did you know that this watch was designed almost 20 years ago by then Chanel's creative director Jacques Helleu? Created for the sporting world, or l'univers sportif as they say in French, the J12 derived its name from competitive sailing, specifically, the J-class yachts of the America's Cup.
The 2019 J12 collection offers a special feature that no others before had: An in-house movement. But try the pieces on and you'll notice additional elements about the refurbished version, such as a slimmer case profile, a more refined bezel, and – another first – applied ceramic hour numerals. You should need a loupe for this.
With this new collection, Chanel also launched a campaign called It's All About Seconds, starring 10 muses of the maison, celebrating beauty in literally all forms. There's brand ambassador Keira Knightley of course, plus other big names like Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Liu Wen, Vanessa Paradis and Lily-Rose Depp, William Chan, Ali McGraw, Anna Mouglalis and Carole Bouquet.
