Party in the USA

Bold and fearless was the theme of the night

2018 is a big year for Cartier's iconic Santos de Cartier timepiece which sports a fresh new look. Fittingly, the luxury maison has promised to roll out a series of special events dedicated to the watch, beginning with an inspirational campaign fronted by the Oscar-nominated actor and producer Jake Gyllenhaal. Check out the video featuring Gyllenhaal filmed by Seb Edwards here.

As Cartier's brand ambassador for the Santos line, Gyllenhaal was invited to the Cartier annual international party in San Francisco to celebrate the Santos story: Two friends, the aviation pioneer Alberto Santos-Dumont and Louis Cartier, put their heads and aspirations together to create the ideal wristwatch. This was in 1904 but the Santos story continues to inspire the maison today.

Hosted by president and CEO of Cartier North America, Mercedes Abramo, and international marketing and communication director, Arnaud Carrez, the party was all about being bold and fearless. The usually charming old Pier 48 located along San Francisco's scenic bay area was transformed into a sleek and showy space lit by dazzling neon light art designed for Cartier by Nonotak Studio.

Of course it wouldn't be a Cartier international event if the entertainment didn't blow your mind. Performances by French indie pop band Phoenix, DJ Jamie XX, British indie electronic band Hot Chip and Wade Crescent who opened the show, kept every guest on their feet throughout the night.

This event was part of the Cartier Social Lab which comprises three days of pioneering conversations with visionaries, creatives, and innovators across different fields – the Santos men and women of our day.
