Cartier’s Panthère jewellery collection ups the wild factor with new additions
If pop culture had any say in the beast that's coming out tops in the animal kingdom, it would be the panther. Natural selection aside, the sleek giant cat is trending something fierce thanks to a certain Marvel superhero — and the year of the panther wouldn't be complete without Cartier's (very shiny) two cents thrown into the pop culture melting pot.
With an equal claim to the panther fame, the maison has been rocking the feline's likeness since 1914, and this symbolic animal has been part and parcel of Cartier's DNA and daring ever since. It was the Panthere that first pioneered the use of flecking in jewellery making, paving onyxes and diamonds into an abstract black-and-white creation that would set the tone for the Art Deco style in the '30s. Most recently given a face by actress Annabelle Wallis, the Panthere now sees new bracelets and rings added to the Lovée series, complementing the existing Massai and Enlacee designs that were launched last year.
Now available in pink gold and yellow gold, as well as one white gold edition blinged up in diamonds, these new metals highlight the audacity of the Panthere more than ever, meant to curve around the wrist like a declaration of fierce femininity. Go on, you know you want to channel your inner panther.
