The watch that went around the world

There's something about the jetset lifestyle that always pulls you in, and Breitling has taken up this penchant for globehopping with gusto as they circumnavigate the world in the legendary Douglas DC-3 aircraft — one of 150 models still existing today and restored by the manufacture. On the occasion of this vintage plane's 77th birthday, the maison is charting a flight path that will take them from continent to continent between March to September, accompanied in the cockpit by a limited edition Navitimer 01 timepiece as part of the adventure.

Ceremoniously marking this event with a Breitling icon, the exclusive Navitimer — cut from steel to craft a generous 46mm frame — is notably distinguished by a Breitling DC-3 World Tour logo engraved on its back. A hallmark aviation watch powered by the in-house manufactured Calibre 01, all 500 pieces of this limited edition watch will be steadily racking up mileage before touching down in fall at the Breitling Sion Airshow 2017 where the Navitimer 01 will then be available for horophiles to marvel over. Steeped in the spirit of flight, each timepiece will also tote a certificate signed by the plane's captain to authenticate its voyage.
