Louis Vuitton drops a blue edition of the Escale Spin Time
Colour coded spin-off
It would seem reinventing time telling and the art of travel are fortes in Louis Vuitton's playbook, what with the unveiling of the new Escale Spin Time Blue that takes its design codes from the iconic Vuitton trunks, tempered with haute horlogerie expertise from the watch and dial makers at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. Likened to a miniature travel trunk that contains a highly complex mechanical core, the 41mm titanium-cast frame features a dial sporting three shades of cyan, with unique indexes made to spin on rotating cubes powered by the in-house developed LV 77 calibre movement.
Centred by a stylised globe that perpetuates the maison's passion for globetrotting, the timepiece displays the hour when two of the twelve axes revolve at the same time, whilst the other cubes turn up different coloured flags inspired by Louis Vuitton's trunk collection - with each of the cubes painted and finished meticulously by hand. Minutes are kept track of by way of a traditional arrow pointer, discreetly moving along the globe motif. Visually hypnotic in its liberal and contemporary interpretation of timekeeping, this fresh edition of the Escale Spin Time goes beyond a travel watch, capturing the lifestyle of the urbane gent who is always on the go.
The Escale Spin Time Blue is available at Louis Vuitton boutiques.
