Bulgari is on a roll with ultra-thin watches
Lean times
Bulgari introduces the Octo Finissimo Automatic, the slimmest automatic watch on the market at just 5.15mm in height. Its movement, Calibre BVL 138, is a scant 2.23mm. For comparison, Piaget's ultra-thin calibre, 1208P, measures 2.35mm. What also distinguishes the Octo Finissimo Automatic from other ultra-thin watches is its case design. Where every single ultra-thin watch on the market comes with a simple round case, the Octo's is a complex octagonal one with numerous facets and angles. This means that you're looking at one of the most unique timepieces in the world.
This gent's watch combines its thin frame with a fairly sizeable mien; the 40mm diameter becomes a breeze even for small wrists thanks to the slender proportions. Calibre BVL 138 is also dutifully hand-decorated with classical Côtes de Genève and circular-grained finishing, all of which can be admired through an expansive open case back. The platinum micro-rotor, too, makes its presence felt while winding the mainspring efficiently and steadily.
Finally, not only is this watch ultra-thin, it is also ultra-light because the case material is titanium, which is known for being lightweight yet super strong. Octo Finissimo Automatic comes with either a leather strap or an Octo bracelet.
The Bulgari Octo Finissimo Automatic debuted at BaselWorld 2017.
