New From Bell & Ross: Two dive models to get your summer vibe on
Calling all scuba junkies
If you're on the lookout for a solid dive watch or a stocking stuffer come Christmas for that awesome diving buddy who's always got your back, take a gander at the new Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver collection. These heavy duty dive timers blend in perfectly with the rest of a scuba diver's standard issue. Indeed, where the airborne BR01s have been inspired by cockpit instruments, the BR03-92 Divers draw their design cues from air cylinders, pressure gauges and dive compasses.
But Bell & Ross didn't do it alone. Rather, it roped in experts from the aeronautical and military domains to complement the knowledge of its master watchmakers and designers. And as testament to its ethos of making professional instruments, Bell & Ross also listened to the opinion of seasoned divers in the production of the BR 03-92 Diver. The result is the world's first square diving watch capable of extreme depths.
Expect the usual arsenal of professional type features: 300 metre water resistance, uni-directional rotating bezel, top notch legibility, an operation indicator and anti-shock protection. The BR 03-92 Diver duly complies with the ISO 6425 standard, and is even anti-magnetic thanks to a soft-iron inner core. Secured to a strap made of rubber and ultra-resilient black synthetic fibre, this is one handsome timepiece that looks equally dapper both in and out of water.
New for 2018 are the BR 03-92 Diver Blue and the BR 03-92 Diver Bronze. Equipped with the same movement, Calibre BR-CAL.302, the two watches may however appeal to completely different crowds.
BR 03-92 Diver Blue matches its stainless steel case with a blue bezel and dial, as well as a blue rubber strap. Dive fanatics will appreciate this deep cerulean hue which promises to match very nicely with the usual rash guards and board shorts get-up. Being cased in stainless steel means you could wear it literally everywhere – just remember to give it a good rinse every now and then.
The BR 03-92 Diver Bronze, a 999-piece limited edition, on the other hand will be a source of sleepless nights for watch aficionados who can't get enough of this age-old material. What makes bronze so popular now is its ability to oxidise – for the most part beautifully – gaining a brown-green layer on its surface called patina. Every bronze watch patinates differently, and it's entirely possible to remove the patina and let the process begin all over again. Fun!
We'll let you muse over the watches for now... Meanwhile here are some top beach destinations near Singapore you can hit up when the mercury rises – or just to test out your newly acquired Bell & Ross diver watch.
