6 questions with Doutzen Kroes, Piaget’s new muse

Welcome to paradise

Text: Angelyn Kwek

In a new global campaign that sees Doutzen Kroes emoting as the Piaget woman, the supermodel talks fine jewellery and what it means to embody the ‘Sunny Side of Life’

Imagine the opulent Villa Casa Kaya in sun-drenched Ibiza. Now add Doutzen Kroes and Jason Morgan into the picture — the gorgeous beings starring in Piaget's new global campaign. Swanning about poolside and enjoying the pleasures of life, the duo are the latest names inked into the annals of the Piaget Society, a collective of peers with a shared love for beauty and that art-de-vivre spirit.

Shot on location by famed fashion photographers Mert & Marcus, Kroes and Morgan are joined by Piaget creations from the Possession and Polo collections, sharing screen time with jewellery and watches that exude that colourful charisma and a sense of seduction. Of course, the supermodel herself was equally radiant (like, when is Doutzen Kroes ever not?) bedecked in gorgeous pieces that she switches up as she goes from day to night.

Like a free-spirited goddess — one that's channeling Piaget's 'Sunny Side of Life' philosophy — Kroes is golden in the campaign, and says of the experience: "Freedom is such an important value to me, and one I share with Piaget. Whether freedom of thought, of style or expression, this value has been magnificently brought to life through the lens of Mert & Marcus, as a woman free to be herself and express herself in her own unforgettable magical paradise."

So what other qualities make the Piaget woman? Here are six questions that suss out the supermodel's new role as the maison's ambassadress:

What kind of woman did you embody within this campaign?
Elegant, daring and talented, confident, and feminine.

What are the values that you have in common with the Piaget Maison?

What is the spirit of this Piaget advertising campaign?
Sharing radiant moments in a magical island paradise.

How was it to work with Mert & Marcus again?
Always a dream. I love them dearly.

What does Piaget mean for you?
Piaget stands for timeless beauty for me.

What is your favorite piece that you have seen during the shooting of the campaign?
To choose one is very complicated, as I love them all. But really if I have to choose one I would go for the Possession collection and its colours. The way you can play the pieces, mix and match or accumulate them. The new Possession watch with its colourful and interchangeable bracelets is just stunning!
