Chopard lets creativity do the talking; Bulgari shows off watchmaking chops; Blancpain stays classic and timeless; Chanel takes the glamorous route

It's the 25th anniversary of the Chopard Happy Sport so Chopard decided now's the time to introduce a manufacture movement in the collection. Calibre 09.01-C is dedicated to smaller sized ladies watches and is beautifully produced with all the hallmarks of classical Swiss watchmaking. The creativity of Caroline Scheufele comes true in all the pieces particularly the Happy Palm, Happy Snowflakes and Happy Fish. On the jewellery front, the Precious Chopard collection embraces a latticework design in high jewellery suites that are fresh, light and modern, while the Red Carpet collection is inspired by Scheufele's dreams and voyages.

Did you know: The name Happy Diamonds was coined when Karin Scheufele said: "These diamonds look so happy when they are set free."

Buro loves: This year's L'Heure du Diamant timepiece is eye-wateringly gorgeous with a stunning opal dial that'll leave you all googly eyed

Pair it with: The Happy Hearts jewellery collection also featuring the iridescent stone

Other hits: The Mille Miglia line continues to grow, and the 2018 editions play with racing colours and are inspired by vintage automobiles

It's definitely a strong year for Bulgari as the brand offers superb novelties across all fronts, for both men and women. Two watches dominate the headlines here: The Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Automatic, thinnest self-winding tourbillon in the world, and the Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater Carbon with its ultra-sexy ultra-thin dial, case and bracelet. Feminine watches also didn't disappoint: The Lucea line grows with a Tubogas bracelet and there's an exquisite model with mosaic gold dial.

Star watch: A special piece called Diva Finissima Minute Repeater combines ultra-thin minute repeater movement with beautiful urushi lacquering — without doubt, one of the most alluring striking watches on the market. The little charm on the side of the case isn't just there to be pretty, it controls the chimes.

Did you know: The Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Automatic is the fourth world record by Bulgari on ultra-thin innovation

Buro loves: Definitely the Finissimo Automatic Sandblasted in steel or rose gold which looks amazing in the flesh and so utterly modern

Other hits: With a fun-loving spirit, the Lucea Skeleton plays with the letters of Bulgari around its dial; also, the blue dial Octo Roma

The Fifty Fathoms diver's collection has been so hot lately that Blancpain would be remiss to not continue with this winning streak. New models here include the very robust Fifty Fathoms Grande Date with an oversized case that's clearly a tribute to historical divers. The manufacture also introduced a Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe with annual calendar — now this is one dive watch suitable for everyday wear.

Star watch: A major highlight is the Villeret Tourbillon Volante Heure Sautante Minute Retrograde with a beautiful white enamel dial. Here, there's a flying tourbillon and the time is displayed with jumping hours and retrograde minutes

Buro loves: Vintage lovers will be so thrilled by the Fifty Fathoms Day Date 70s which is a tasteful tribute piece that balances just the right amount of past and present

Other hits: The Villeret Grande Date Jour Retrograde will make an exceptional work watch for busy executives as it very clearly displays date and day

Once again Chanel enthrals us with a heady mix of sophistication and insouciance. Everything fully respects the codes of the House and yet exude such creativity, such originality. Top story here is the new Boy.Friend with Chanel's third in-house manufacture calibre, Calibre 3. Like the calibres before it, this movement strictly follows the dial structure of the classic Boy.Friend and has its gear train arranged from top to bottom in a straight line. Its gender-neutral design endears this timepiece to men and women equally. More feminine creations, however, include the Mademoiselle Prive which comes with an adapted version of Calibre 2 — you can see how the bridges form a camellia.

Star watch: Definitely the Boy.Friend Calibre 3

Buro loves: The new Code Coco is such a fun watch to wear and now it comes in black ceramic as well as full diamond pave

Other hits: The new J12 pieces play with numbers using ceramic marquetry where shards of ceramic are hewn from big pieces, and then put together to form a design; the new Premiere is inspired by the colours of the Chanel cruise collection

For the men: New Monsieur de Chanel models come with a gold relief engraved lion either in beige gold or black coated white gold
