Van Cleef & Arpels launches the Bouton d'or to mark an all-new collection in their legacy
Perfection is an unbroken circle, and Van Cleef & Arpels brings this flawless silhouette to life with the launch of their new jewellery collection, the Bouton d'or. This addition joins luminaries such as the Alhambra and the Perlée series, and is an original fine jewellery range the maison is unveiling since the Perlée debuted in 2004.
In reference (and deference) to the sleek three-dimensional curves of their 1930s' Paillette jewellery motif, the French luxury house has reinterpreted its sequin look into a beautifully layered contemporary collection. Echoing a luxurious volume, vivid colour and outstanding dazzle, these rich elements coalesce into a graphic femininity, producing the 'bouton' — translated to mean button in French — set with a brilliantly-cut diamond in its centre. Crafted with both concave and convex aesthetics replicated in a continuous chain with a sensual sinuosity, each piece in the collection closely traces the lines of the body to sit naturally and comfortably against the skin.
Featuring two distinctive sets of five pieces, a softer collection utilising pink gold, shimmering mother-of-pearl and rosy carnelian hues clustered in gorgeous bouquet arrangements blazes a warm, lively essence. In comparison, the secondary collection visualises an edgier vibe, playing with the contrast between dark onyx and jade-like chrysoprase against vibrant yellow gold. Beautifully geometric, the maison has also cleverly imbued the ring and the pendant (that also doubles as a brooch) with a hidden tactility — the outermost boutons rimming these creations are mobile, beckoning one to reach out with a reverent playful touch.
Finely crafted with innovative expertise, precious stones and dedicated artisanal hands, the Bouton d'or is a collection of utterly dazzling symmetry. Even friend of the brand actress Cate Blanchett has given it her lauded approval when she wore the pieces at the Van Cleef & Arpels exhibition opening at the ArtScience Museum. A new haute joaillerie trademark, the Bouton d'or is a call for one to flaunt their finest.
The Bouton d'or collection is available at Van Cleef & Arpels boutiques.
