Watch: The Panthère de Cartier short film, directed by Sofia Coppola
On the prowl
What do you get when you put directorial carte blanche in award-winning filmmaker Sofia Coppola's hands? Glamour, elegance, sophistication, sensuality and fun: All the ingredients in a brand new storyboard for the Panthère de Cartier. Coming alive in a thrilling and sexy re-imagination, the maison green lighted a short film for this iconic timepiece, and it's one entirely scripted by the newest titleholder of Best Director at the Cannes 2017 Film Festival.
"I've always loved Cartier, the archives, the history and the design, which is very unique. I am a fan," Coppola shares. "When Cartier told me that they wanted to make a film for the re-launch of the Panthère de Cartier watch, I first thought: Who is a Panthère woman? What would her environment be? I love the Panthère watch, so I was happy to make a film which captured the chic and the glamour of what it says to me."
Produced in the same vein that characterises Coppola's work — otherwise known as a unique expression from the female perspective — the Cartier x Coppola featurette interweaves her artistic ethos with the Panthère collection's style and femininity. A compelling storytelling that projects the confidence, drive and daring of the independent modern woman, the Panthère de Cartier is all about living vicariously like you've always wanted to.
The Panthère de Cartier collection is available at Cartier boutiques.
