Zulkifle Mahmod

Zulkifle Mahmod

Name: Zulkifle Mahmod
Date of birth: 27 March 1975
Occupation: Artist
Industry: Art

How he got started: After being introduced to sound work in Norway by Dutch artist Jurr V. Diggele in 2001, Diggele introduced Zulkifle to computer music, something alien to him back then. Upon his return to Singapore, the artist further explored field audio recording, sensors and electronics, building his own electronic sound instruments, which he still explores now.

Notable achievements: Zulkifle was awarded the Soichiro Fukutake Prize at the Singapore Biennale 2016 for his sound-based installation piece, SONICreflection. He has participated at the 52nd Venice Biennale in 2007 and the Ogaki Biennale in 2006. He was also awarded the Singapore Straits Time Life! Theatre Award 2010 for Best Sound Design.

Something you might not have known about him: Zulkifle was the designer for the Singtel F1 Grand Prix Night Race trophy in Singapore.

A quote to sum it all up:
"The best thing about being an artist is that I'm not desk-bound. On a serious note, I am able to inspire people with my creativity."
