Name: Javier Perez
Date of birth: 16 August 1977
Occupation: Founder and director of Series of Intentions
How he got started: Perez was born in Puerto Rico and has been in Singapore for over 10 years. While he started out in hospitality, he has always wanted to work in F&B and run his own restaurant ever since he was 11 years old. He opened his first restaurant, Banh Mi, in 2006, when he was 28 years old. Two years later, he opened Raw Kitchen Bar in Bukit Timah, which loosely formed the basis of the Kilo restaurants he runs today. His restaurants have a homely vibe that put the spotlight on good food and great company. Today, his company, Series Of Intentions, runs Kilo Kallang, Kilo Lounge, Kilo Bali, Camp Kilo Charcoal Club, and two Grain Traders outlets.
Notable achievements: Sustaining a company for over a decade in a foreign country; creating jobs which allow for the growth of a city and its citizens; creating platforms for people to express their creativity; mentoring young restauranteurs, and building everlasting relationships through the opportunity of working in this industry and Singapore.
Something you might not have known about him: For a man who runs multiple restaurants, he doesn't consider himself to be a foodie.
A quote he lives by: "The richest man is not the one who has the most, but rather the one who needs the least."
