Dr Georgia Lee
Name: Dr Georgia Lee
Date of birth: 19 February 1969
How she got started: Dr Lee started as a doctor who also appreciated the art of skincare and non-invasive methods of maintainence and refining. She entered into the skincare industry after a personal incident; she developed post inflammation hyperpigmentation on the right side of the face from an allergic reaction to a course of antibiotics. The products available to treat this hyperpigmentation were too harsh to her hypersensitive skin and she recovered after nine months of applying a gentle lightening product she developed.
This piqued her interest in understanding skincare and also her passion of wanting to curate skincare for those she was caring for under her treatments. She went on to understand the world of skincare formulation, development and also understanding what ingredients work and what may cause issues. This process took her six years to learn and that includes visiting chemists and manufacturers in various countries as well as selecting the materials that would be used to house the skincare. On the fashion front, Dr Lee is also a trendsetter who has been inducted into Singapore Tatler's Hall of Fame.
Notable achievements: Dr Lee has won various awards in her career including a courage award for valour and selfless dedication in 2003 for volunteering for SARS medical support and Spirit of Enterprise Award from the Singapore Management University (SMU) in 2008. She also started the drgeorgialee scholarship program with SMU. Dr Lee has an award-winning skincare, body and haircare line DRGL that retails in Tangs and Escentials.
Something you might not have known about her: She gives her personal best at any given time or project and is toughest on the team members that she want to groom. Interestingly enough, she is also mysophobic.
A quote to sum it all up: "Mediocrity in efforts is like watered-down whiskey, and I take mine neat."
