For a fresh burst of inspiration, Buro 24/7 asked five top Singapore hair and makeup artists to create their own vision of wedding beauty on bride-to-be, model Sheena Liam — giving them full artistic control

Makeup and hair artist Andrea Claire of Judy Inc is known in the industry for creating fresh, dewy skin. The self-professed skinaholic wanted to create a spring-ready floral look that reflected a contemporary boho-chic aesthetic. For her face, Andrea kept the skin light using a sculpting and highlighting palette for soft definition that in her words, did not look like "Instagram cake-face". Enlisting a florist to handmake a gorgeous, flower crown that was bursting with vibrant shades of blue and orange, she kept Liam's locks flowy and romantic.

For his look, makeup artist Yuan Sng wanted to follow his own personal style which is easy, modern and elegant. His wedding makeup interpretation for Liam was stunning yet timeless — with soft waves and pretty, fresh peach tones on the cheeks and lips. Following his philosophy of bringing out the best in each individual, Liam looked like herself, with a glowing complexion and her natural beauty taking centrestage.

Veteran makeup and hair artist Grego was inspired by the mantra 'less is more'. He wanted to go dramatic and directional without going overboard. For this look, he placed the colours on Liam's face with different intensities. He used shading, highlights and subtle washes of green on the eyes to bring out the distinctive shape of her eyes and finished off with some mascara. For the lips, a soft ombré effect gave a touch of dimensional colour that wasn't too bold. For her hair, Grego kept it fun, with playful braids and a show-stopping floral headpiece.

Makeup and hair artist Nigel Stanislaus is currently based in Melbourne, but you may be familiar with his appearances on Asia's Next Top Model. For this look, Stanislaus wanted to play with the architecture of Liam's face and body and create a hairdo that he called an 'architectural skyscraper'. He didn't want to overcomplicate the makeup — focussing on strobing on the skin — as he feels that on their big day, brides should reveal who they really are.

A relative newcomer on the scene, the youthful Maranion, wanted to approach this look the same way he approaches each new bride — by bringing out her personality and personal style. Not wanting to create a timeless look, Maranion went with makeup and hair that was a reflection of today's trends. Liam's face has a modern iridescence, while her flowing waves, topped off with a vintage-style cap, reflect an easy elegance.
