Would you stay in this Game Of Thrones-themed hotel?
For the night is dark and full of terrors...
While the eighth season of cult favourite HBO television series, Game of Thrones, is only set to air in 2019, here's something to tide the hungry fans over — enter the first ever Game of Thrones-themed hotel.
Built in the resort of Kittilä, which is about 125 miles above the Arctic Circle and 90 minutes away from Helsinki, the exclusive abode was masterminded by HBO Nordic along with the folks from Lapland Hotels SnowVillage — proofing it GoT official. As it was designed by talented ice sculptors from around the world, you're essentially living in a hotel entirely made out of ice and snow. The special theme however, is unfortunately temporal, as the Scandinavian property is known for changing its shape, size and design every year.
Cribs here aren't like any other — each of the 24 rooms feature a different ice figurine based off a character from the show. For instance, you can get cosy with a certain direwolf or if you're game enough, spend the night with a villainous White Walker looming over your bedside. Their hallways include an astounding replica of Braavos' Hall of Faces and obviously, the iconic (icy) iron throne. One thing's for sure, you'll definitely get to live out some hiddenfantasies in this ice hotel.
Just like any other regular hotel, there are facilities. Feel free to visit the village's restaurant for authentic Finnish fare, where reindeer steak is featured on the menu, or head to the ice bar where huge life-like ice sculptures of Daenerys Targaryen's dragons can be found. Couples who are looking to get hitched can even get married in the hotel's ice chapel. Now how's that for a once-in-a-lifetime occasion?
There is but one tiny catch to this. As temperatures dip down to -5℃ , guests are advised to only stay for one night and are equipped with thermal sleeping bags back in their rooms. At the end of the day, it all boils down to how much you love the cold — or in this case, love the series.
