With Bali as one of the most visited spots in Southeast Asia, it seems like there's little else to discover about the Island of the Gods. Travellers the world over have long unearthed its best party spots, healthful cafes, yoga retreats and beaches for water sports, but situated just north west of bustling Seminyak and the up-and-coming Canggu is a gem of a villa that's a destination in itself.
Under the management of The Luxe Nomad, Villa Vedas is perched between the tranquil of paddy fields and the calm of the ocean, able to house up to 10 guests with its five spacious bedrooms. Built for large groups of friends in search of Bali's famed experiences sans noise and crowd, it's a stunning spot to relax, heal and surf — all under one roof. While its amenities — boasting three pools, common lounge areas, indoor and outdoor dining tables, a wine refrigerator and a bar plus kitchen manned by an in-house chef and butler — already provide the perfect setting to just chill out and chat, The Luxe Nomad's curation of services and activities offer a seamless stay and plenty else to try your hand at without having to step foot off the property.
A leisurely swim in the villa's ground floor pool with view of its private beach out front is a must. After, a massage to relax or rid yourself of tension and knots in the privacy of your room is an absolute treat. Come time to nosh, count on the property's on-site chef to bring you a hearty Indonesian fare of your choice, with options for Western-style dishes should you desire. We recommend taking meals at the outdoor dining table that is located a stone's throw away from the ocean.
TAKE TIME TO HEAL
Here, you won't have to head up to Ubud or hop over to a studio to clock in a yoga session. When given lead time, The Luxe Nomad is able to arrange for a yoga teacher to come into the villa for a session with all guests. Yin or yang, it's your call. And beyond a side of shavasanas, healing sessions with some of the island's most highly recommended healers are available. Time to unload all that stress, self-doubt, and negativity.
Remember we said private beach? While the ocean is great to look at — and, provide the soundtrack of waves crashing to your Bali vacay — it is also good for getting a taste of the sport. Although there isn't a permanent surf instructor here, simply check in with The Luxe Nomad team to set up a lesson or two. While you're at Villa Vedas, the beach (quiet, with little foot traffic might we add) is literally your backyard.
GOOD TO KNOW
The Luxe Nomad has been rolling out eco-friendly features at their accommodations in Bali, and Villa Vedas is no exeception. Drinks at the property are served with non-plastic, biodegradable straws by Avani, and recycling bins are available at the villa. In-room, reusable glass bottles by Eco Bali replace plastic water bottles and the provided body wash is free of paraben, phthalate and petrochemical.
The villa is kitted out with an interior that's custom-made in Canggu, and is a sight to behold from its central feature — the suspended staircase connecting the main area to the rooms — to the statues peppered around the property made of local stone. The work of architect Stu Bevan and, truly #interiorgoals in local Indonesian flavour.
