#TechThursday: LG and Google team up to unveil smartwatches powered by Android Wear 2.0 technology
Time for the new
Thanks to LG Electronics and Google, the LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style are set to be the next generation in wearable technology. The two companies partnered up to create these watches which come preloaded with the Android Wear 2.0 operating system. What this means is that you'll have access to Google Assistant right on your wrist. Users can reply to a message, ask for directions, and set reminders – amongst other essential tasks – with the touch of a button. When it comes to messaging, options to handwrite messages or swipe on a keyboard make communication a breeze.
Both the Watch Sport and Watch Style models feature circular displays for easy navigation and allow for up to eight complications to sit on the watch face. The Watch Sport, built with runners and athletes in mind, boasts a water-resistance rating of IP68 and tough, stainless steel Gorilla glass. The in-built PPG sensor is capable of tracking the wearer’s heart rate at all times of day. Those looking for a more stylish accessories can opt for the LG Watch Style, a slim, sleek model available in three striking colours: silver, titanium and rose gold. Featuring snap-and-swap bands, the Watch Style is as aesthetically-pleasing as it is practical.
Come 27 February, both watches will be unveiled at the 2017 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
