As technology rapidly advances, we are more reliant on our devices to not only fulfil our work and play expectations, but to also be practical. Have you ever wished for your phone to have extra screen space so as to work (or watch Netflix) gratifyingly, and yet it has to be compact enough to be stuffed into a tiny bag or the pockets of your jeans? To that particular woe, Samsung seems to have an answer with their new launch: the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2. First introduced in early August during the virtual Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event, the next successor of Samsung's first foldable phone is dazzled with a few refinements and updates.

The design of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 is bold and sophisticated, echoing other Samsung products. The new Galaxy Z Fold2 offers an adaptive refresh rate for smoother scrolling and to minimise battery consumption. The main screen is now 7.6 inches, with up to 27% smaller bezels. Translation: you can now enjoy your Netflix binge with a more cinematically immersive experience sans any distractions. You can listen to the freshest beats with the phone-tablet's improved sound quality from its high-dynamic dual speakers that delivers a balanced stereo effect. This device is said to offer the best dynamic sound experience amongst the slew of Galaxy devices. Made possible with Samsung's Hideaway Hinge technology, the Galaxy Z Fold2 utilises an updated CAM mechanism and sweeper technology, that we have previously seen in Galaxy Z Flip, to allow for a clean, swift folding and unfolding experience.

Samsung's Flex mode is found in the Galaxy Z Fold2, which enables a seamless screen-to-screen transition across three distinct screen modes. Empowered by the Hideaway Hinge, you can go from the cover phone screen, to a half-folded screen, and to the fully unfolded screen without missing a beat. When you unfold the screen between 80 to 160 degrees, the device automatically recognises the angle and splits your screen for you, displaying your content on the top half and additional controls and features on the bottom half.

When it comes to snapping photos, this device now boasts a rear-cam selfie mode, as well as a Dual Preview technology, where you can preview your shot in real-time. Stable video shooting is made easier with Auto Framing, where the device uses machine learning to track subjects within the camera frame without having to move the phone. It's like a tripod and camera, all in one. To ramp up on productivity, Samsung has partnered with third-party applications like Google and Microsoft. The latter tech giant has even optimised its Office suite for Z Fold2, so you won't ever have to worry about your workflow being interrupted.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 comes in Mystic Bronze and Mystic Black. For those who wish to personalise their phone to their personal sense of style, you can customise your Hideaway Hinge with four colours: Metallic Silver, Metallic Red, Metallic Blue, Metallic Gold.
