Samsung’s latest device creates a smarter home for all millennials
Despite what we've seen, the power of the smartphone is more extensive than you think — all you need is a little help from an external device. Meet Samsung Connect Home, a home hub device that lets you control every nook and cranny of your home from your mobile device.
Marrying a smart, extensive Wi-Fi router with a radical system by tech company, SmartThings, Connect Home will cover your entire living space using a group of expandable mesh Wi-Fi networks — each device can cover up to a range of 1,500 sq ft. Own a big apartment? Simply increase your coverage with additional devices.
The other cool aspect about Connect Home is that it also hands you complete control over all compatible SmartThings and Samsung appliances and devices. With an integrated SmartThings platform, the home hub syncs with your other tech gizmos, such as light switches and televisions, via your Smart Home app or through a voice command. For instance, simply say "Movie time", and your lights will dim as your television switches on. You don't even need to get up from your couch. Leaving the house in a hurry? All you have to do is hit a button before heading out the door, and all your connected devices will switch off at the same time.
Designed to be sleek and compact, the home hub system will be a stylish addition to your coffee table — no more ugly antenna-laden routers sticking out like a sore thumb. Keen to programme your entire household? Samsung Connect Home will definitely be a good start.
