Google Pay's newest updates: An all-in-one payment system for everyone
GPay and Go
Yes, the latest expose The Social Dilemma has been harrowing, but then, Google Pay. Since that system came into existence, it's hard to shut that door from our lives.
You're probably thinking: "How many more paying options do I need?" From PayNow to DBS Paylah!, there seems to be no end to the number of ways you can scan a QR code to get your money sent to your friends or the restaurant you're dining at. But that's exactly what Google Pay is hoping to eradicate by creating an entire ecosystem where all payments can exist in one single application. Sounds good? Well it gets better. Read on for the latest updates Google Pay now has to offer below.
Transfer funds easily (for all PayNow, DBS Paylah! and SC Customers)
Earlier this year, the big G co opted PayNow into their app, but solely for OCBC customers. Now, with a fuller integration of PayNow and DBS Paylah!, you can use the app to transfer funds — to friends or merchants — as you previously would with either of the two fund-sharing applications.
With the introduction of DBS Paylah! into the app, customers from other banks can link up their accounts to DBS Paylah! to benefit from this function. And one more thing — your friend doesn't need to have the G Pay app for you to transfer money to them.
So if you've got G Pay and your friend doesn't, but they're a customer using either one of the three slated above, you can easily transfer them the required amount without fussing about which app to use.
TLDR; No more switching between multiple payment apps to transfer money to different people.
Split the bill
How many times have we all had to discuss the Splitting Of Bill post-meetup? Now, with their latest "New Group" function, you'll be able to easily organize the total bill for the night amongst your friends or co-workers seamlessly. With their in-app chat group, the app even allows you to confirm who's paid and who hasn't — making the job easier for everyone.
Order food, GPay, and go
Craving takeout but too lazy to queue? Scroll through over 800 eateries on the G Pay app and skip the queue. You can pick the takeout of choice, pay in-app and collect when the food's ready.
Plan your next movie date
You can now browse Movies Showing on a Google app...and book it well in advance. With both Golden Village and Shaw theatres available, you'll probably be able to find a movie slot and check available seats conveniently enough. This sounds especially useful for when it's an impromptu date and you want to quickly make a booking without having to slowly filter through the different cinemas available.
Rewards, rewards, rewards
Earn cashback rewards — or scratch cards — that let you discover the unexpected joy of 'scratching' and finding money every time you make a qualifying transaction.
With the bounty of options this new iteration of Google Pay is offering us, it seems like soon we'll be able to complete every existing transaction we need to in no time — all in one handy app — including their already existing payment options such as paying for public transport.
