Review: Could the Dyson Cyclone V10 be the world's best stick vacuum?
Unless you're a domestic goddess appointed by the heavens, it's hard to list household chores as a favourite pastime. If it is, you're probably fibbing. When it comes to keeping the home spotless, vacuuming is up there as the most laborious task of all. It is also unfortunate, that it ranks of high importance. How else would you pick up falling hair strands?
Sure, with robot vacuums these days, it's easy to sit back while a smart bot cleans up after you. But for the obsessive control freak, it's best to take matters like such in your own hands. Dyson's breed of vacuums have always been dubbed the cream of the crop. With powerful suction and lightweight machinery, the brand has made important matters like housekeeping and a bitching blow-out effortless and breezy — especially for the modern-day power woman.
Their latest release, the Dyson Cyclone V10 presents a smaller, lighter version of their predecessor, Dyson V8 cord-free vacuum. In the case of the luxury tech company, size doesn't matter. In fact, after a short walk with this magic stick across my living room, visible hair strands and dust particles were swept up, leaving no trace behind. The process was swift and admittedly, pretty cool to witness. Figures, as the V10 happens to be booted with Dyson's fastest and most power-dense digital vacuum motor, which spins up to 125,000 rpm. It is also fitted with eight poles, which means it switches up to 16,000 times a second — ramping up the performance speed.
Airflow was consistent and exceptionally clean — credit given to its 14 cyclones that are rotated continually. Even after combing through the first level of my house, the suction pressure never once faltered. Emptying the vacuum's bin? Snappy, thanks to its point-and-shoot mechanism.
I certainly didn't feel like I was lugging a weight or rather in any way, felt burdened by the chore of cleaning. That said, the Cyclone V10 isn't just all brawn — it is also programmed with a brain. One that recognises the altitude (if you're upstairs or downstairs), temperature, and can even work out the weather. With this information in mind, it adjusts its functions and power in accordance, just so that a consistent performance can be kept up to speed.
Could this stick vacuum one day be rivalled? Perhaps. But for now, the V10 stands as a tough one to beat.
Dyson Cyclone V10 is now available online and major departmental stores.
