Run to the beat

It's a harsh fact of life, but our favorite tech toys typically don't marry well with water. Good news is, Bang & Olufsen knows we're not going to let our sweaty countenances stop us from listening to music while going for a mile-long run (God forbid), so they've launched two new water-resistant earphones – that are wireless to boot – designed for just that. Also, consider this their foray into sportsgear. Bang & Olufsen Beoplay E8 Motion and Beoplay E6 Motion, workout wireless earphones

If you're lacking assurance, it's a little understandable – until you find out that these new entries, the Beoplay E8 Motion and Beoplay E6 Motion, are both rated IP54 for water and sweat resistance. That means they underwent at least 10 minutes of testing under the duress of an oscillating spray; proof that these gadgets can handle water splashes from any and all directions.

The main difference between these models lies largely in the extent to which each are cordless. Beoplay E8 Motion comes in the form of nifty buds, possessing wireless charging capabilities and being conveniently packaged with a leather and aluminium charging case that holds three full charges for the earphones. Beoplay E6 Motion has its own appeal, as it features a splash resistant rubber cord – useful for users who love the experience of wireless earphone-to-phone freedom, but still feel more secure with an anchoring cord linking the tiny buds together. Plus, at moderate volume, the Beoplay E6 Motion has an hour of playtime on its counterpart, allowing for up to five hours as compared to the E8's four.

Of course, any spiel would be moot if the sound quality is lackluster – but this is Bang & Ofulsen we're talking about, so naturally their speakers are electro-dynamic and have low impedance levels, which means it requires little power to deliver high quality audio. Both models also come with a range of customisable frosted silicone ear fins, so to all the people in hiding who have oddly-shaped ears — it's safe to come out now.

Beoplay E6 Motion (at $460) and Beoplay E8 Motion ($550) are available only in white, and will be stocked at Grand Hyatt flagship store, TANGS at Tang Plaza, Takashimaya, all iStudio stores and iShop Changi. For more information, visit their website here.
