Nike's power-lacing 'Back to the Future' sneakers are set to arrive next year
Back to the Future is a movie that's way ahead of its time. It predicted the advent of the hoverboard (realised this year by Lexus), the reality of video conferencing, and the convenience of handheld tablet computers. Now, we have one more futuristic invention to tick off that list: power-lacing sneakers. Thanks to the innovative minds at Nike, those shoes now exist, and who better to test it out than Michael J. Fox himself?
Dubbed the Nike Mag, these smart sneakers harness the powers of digital technology to tighten or relax the shoe's laces according to the wearer's motion and are modelled after the very same kicks Marty Mcfly straps on in the movie.
Imagine shoes that fit snugly without you having to lift a finger. These power laces certainly give new meaning to a power walk. But before you launch into #TakeAllMyMoney mode, know that the 2015 Nike Mag is a limited edition release which will only be available via auction next year. All proceeds raised from the auction will go towards the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
