Life, captured

You don't have to be a geek to operate DJI's latest drone
Finally, a noob-friendly drone for those looking to dabble in aerial imaging

DJI's newly available Phantom 3 Standard, built with the fledgling drone-pilot in mind, will have you shooting videos of you and your pals skiing down the Alps in no time. The quadcopter features an integrated aerial camera that can take 2.7K HD videos and 12 Megapixel photos, as well as an advanced stablisation technology to ensure that you footage won't come back as a blurry mess.

  • The smart device also comes with a built-in GPS that allows for the drone to return to you at the press of a button. But what we find most useful is the ease at which you can program the Phantom 3 Standard to shadow your movements, essentially functioning as your own personal film crew. You can also view the footage captured by the camera via a video feed that streams in real time — a nifty function if any for checking if the drone has captured you at your best angle.
