Singapore Airlines experiences: Meals on an A380, tours at the airline, First Class delivery bundles, and more
With pandemic prevention measures firmly in place, jetting off for a holiday still seems improbable in the foreseeable future. If you've been forlornly missing the excitement and thrill of travelling on a plane though, you can still clock in a jet-setting experience with the new initiatives Singapore Airlines (SIA) have just rolled out. From touring a plane to having an in-flight dining experience at home, these will (hopefully) tide you over till we can travel for fun once again. Eye them all, below.
Have a meal on the plane
Love them or hate them, you have to admit in-flight meals are definitely part of a long-haul flight. If you've missed snapping a pic of your plane meal and uploading it on Instagram to make all your friends jealous, now's your chance. The Restaurant A380@Changi initiative allows you to have an exclusive dining experience onboard the world's largest passenger aircraft.
Choose from special menus tailored for each cabin class, with options such as the airline's signature international cuisine, as well as a special Peranakan menu designed by acclaimed Singaporean chef Shermay Lee. You can even sign up for a pre-lunch tour of the aircraft, and get a rare look at private access areas on the plane. To mark this unique experience, you'll even get to take home limited-edition souvenirs and receive exclusive KrisShop discounts. Customers who dress up in traditional heritage wear such as the sarong kebaya, cheongsam, saree, batik shirt or even a kilt, will receive a special gift.
Reservations start on 12 October 2020, and Restaurant A380@Changi will operate on 24 and 25 October 2020.
A tour for the whole family
Whether you're somewhat of an aviation junkie and love planes or you're simply just curious, you can now catch a glimpse of the SIA world. With the Inside Singapore Airlines experience, get an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the airline's training facilities where you can learn about SIA's 70 years of history and interact with the elusive pilots and friendly cabin crew. If you're towing your entire family along, not to fret — there's something for everyone. The younger ones in the family can enjoy craft activities like balloon sculpting and making personalised batik roses. They can also dress up and role play as the airline's cabin crew with the opportunity to take home their very own SIA sarong kebaya uniform as a memento. For the adults, you can get the opportunity to operate a full-flight simulator, taste some premium in-flight wine labels, indulge in retail therapy, and even attend a grooming workshop. Visitors will receive a specially prepared goodie bag filled with souvenirs.
Bookings open on 1 November 2020, and the tours will be held on 21, 22, 28 and 29 November 2020.
First class meals at home
For those who prefer to lounge in the comforts of their humble abode, you can enjoy the airline's world-class in-flight dining at home with the SIA@Home experience. Order a home-dining experience for two and choose from an extensive selection of 10 menus that feature First Class and Business Class meals. The menus are designed by world-renowned International Culinary Panel chefs, and each menu comes paired with a choice of wine or champagne selected by the airline's Wine Panel experts. To ensure you aren't missing the onboard experience from home, you'd also get a First Class or Business Class amenity kit, and digital add-ons like welcome videos, instructional guides on how to heat and plate the dishes, as well as a specially curated playlist. Depending on the package you choose, limited-edition dining wares and amenities are also available. If you're keen to amp up the experience even further, you can opt for a private chef to help reheat, plate, and serve the meal via the Book-the-Chef option.
The special cabin crew concierge service for SIA@Home bookings opens on 5 October 2020.
