All about the thrill? Mark your calendars for Singapore’s biggest carnival
The great escape
There's no denying that carnivals are a gift sent from above. Whether you're a four-year-old Disney lover or an adult with serious responsiblities, it's hard to resist the idea of a day out in an amusement park.
Here to rival our city's reputable Universal Studios (at least till the month of April next year), is a pop-up theme park called The Prudential Marina Bay Carnival. As its name suggests, the carnival will pitch camp in the heart of the CBD at Marina Bay. And in case you expected a mini activation, you thought wrong. This wonderland will span across a whopping 25,000 square metres — taking up The Promontory and Bayfront Event Space — and is set to be Singapore's biggest carnival yet.
The Prudential Marina Bay Carnival will showcase more than 40 rides and carnival games, many of which have been rallied in from European countries like the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy. Adrenaline junkies, you won't be disappointed. The Booster Maxx will lift you off at 55 metres above ground while rotating at a speed of 96km/hour. Another highlight? The Star Flyer, a tower ride which sets you at a 35-metre height in a swing set, letting you in on a uninhibited 360° view of our city's skyline.
Families can also take their little ones on classic adventures like the Log Flume, which entails a big splash at the end. As with every carnival, expect an eclectic lineup of game stalls and fairground bites — from gourmet burgers to mouth-watering hotdogs.
What's more? Live music will take centre-stage with acts like hip-hop rapper TheLionCityBoy and singer Jasmine Sokko, alongside ventriloquist performances and caroling groups. Admission is free for all, while access to the rides and games can be purchased on-site.
We'll say no more. It's time for you to round up your favourite crew and head to this bangin' carnival.
The Prudential Marina Bay Carnival officially opens on 15 December 2017 till 1 April 2018. For more information, click here.
