Presenting Buro. Large, our interactive print publication covering new frontiers in fashion, beauty, lifestyle, culture, watch and jewellery
Going full circle
It's a strange feeling to announce and introduce Buro. Large. When a project takes over your life for a significant period of time, it feels odd to finally present it to the world as a shiny new thing — only because we've seen it over, and over, and over.
Nevertheless, we're incredibly psyched to show off our new baby. After three years of owning the digital luxury fashion, beauty and lifestyle space, we wanted to step out of our comfort zones and do something different. Make no mistake, growth is always uncomfortable, and this one wasn't any different.
While most publishers are fervently acquiring digital real estate, we're looking the other way — to print. Yes, Buro. Large is Buro. Singapore's foray into print, and our very first broadsheet is out now on newsstands and other hotspots (deets below).
In case you're thinking we've gone all analog with Buro. Large, we haven't. Staying true to our digital roots, we've incorporated an Augmented Reality cover, Augmented reality spreads, exclusive digital and social media content, plus cool video pop-ups (by way of our extremely kick-ass tech partner Vidy) into the entire Buro. Large universe. It's a 360-degree platform that includes a hardcopy issue, a microsite, social media engagements and offline activations. And if that doesn't sound "large" enough, Buro. Large is a regional title, distributed in six neighbouring cities.
As we move into uncharted territory with Buro. Large, it seems fitting, then, for our inaugural issue to be themed New Frontiers. Uncovering what's next in fashion, beauty, lifestyle, culture, watches and jewellery — aka Buro. Singapore's pillars — we profile seven netizens (read: some of the most influential, boundaries-pushing and amazing people) from the region who are pioneering changes in their fields.
We also explore the state of artificial intelligence in the fashion industry; re-define beauty in a local context; look at modern-day watches of defiance; shine the spotlight on innovations and inventions that are changing the way we live in Asia; and more.
There's also a cool-as tear-away 'youth culture' poster designed in collaboration with Risograph printing studio Knuckles & Notch to decorate your plain walls.
To experience our Augmented Reality cover and spreads, download Artivive (from the App Store or Google Play). All you have to do is place your phone over the images to the images come alive via the app. It's worth the download, we promise.
We can go on forever about our latest undertaking and what's within, but hey, there's no fun in a full reveal. Watch this space as we drop Buro. Large next week!
