First Pompompurin café in Southeast Asia to open in Singapore

First Pompompurin café in Southeast Asia to open in Singapore
Brace yourself for a gastronomic shrine dedicated to this iconic canine

If you thought the next cafe to open up in Singapore wouldn't stray far from mod Aussie territory, you're in for a curious surprise. Come 18th April, Southeast Asia's very first Pompompurin Café will open its doors right here in Singapore. The 1,900 square feet cafe at Orchard Central might have a seating capacity for 78 diners, but we doubt that's vast enough to contain the army of fans gushing over this popular Sanrio character.

Even the cutest cats on Instagram can't hold a candle to this fictitious dog. Unlike Hello Kitty — who's apparently a little girl and not a cat — Pompompurin is a golden retriever famed for his trademark brown beret. Don't expect him to play fetch though. You're more likely to find this laidback canine drinking milk, eating cream caramel puddings and taking naps. Ambition certainly isn't his middle name, but guess what, he's a bona fide cash cow for Sanrio.

What's on the menu? Plenty of kawaii, of course. Everything from the cutlery to wallpaper will be Pompompurin-themed. Needless to say, dishes see the iconic dog shaped out of rice or peeking out from a mango parfait. Expect to find such dishes as Spaghetti Napolitana, Coconut Milk Chicken Curry, and Beef Stroganoff — all infused with a huge dose of cute.
