The festival your adulting self will love
No work, all play
The month of June is exactly six days away — that means less than a week to waking up with screaming kids down at your condo pool and entering a mall filled with careless little humans running around... you get the drift. Yes, it's the annual school holiday month where flights are more expensive and all the events around town are centered around children, be it carnivals and book fairs. Kids deserve attention but what about the rest of the population? We do exist in this world, too.
Before we go back to licking our neglected wounds, here's something to save the day. The Lo & Behold Group decided enough was enough, and put together a month-long festival solely dedicated to grown-ups, whether you're a full-fledged adult or in that baffling process of adulting. We break down the six crucial phases of letting loose at this upcoming fun fest.
PHASE ONE: BUT FIRST, PIZZA
Extra Virgin Pizza
2 June 2017, 6.30pm to 9.30pm
We love watching a good Masterchef finale on televsion. Over at Extra Virgin Pizza, you can watch one live — Extra Virgin Pizza presents a food fight between Ming Tan, F&B director of Grain and Bjorn Shen, Artichoke's chef-founder, where they'll be pitting their pizzas against each other in a delicious showdown. Spectators present for the first two hours will be able to enjoy their masterful creations for free.
PHASE TWO: DRINK GIN
The Rabbit Hole
8 June 2017, 6.30pm to 8.30pm
Green is in when it comes to keeping your health in check, and make this herbaceous potion no exception. The Rabbit Hole's sultry Spanish gin is made with Arbequina olives, rosemary, thyme and basil — sounds a lot like your Mediterranean diet in a bottle. For one night only, you can take part in an intimate workshop where gin lovers will walk away with copious amounts of gin in their system, newfound knowledge and a G&T cocktail kit in hand.
PHASE THREE: DRESS TO THE NINES
The Black Swan
10 June 2017, 7pm to 10pm
Revive your dusty dancing shoes for a Hollywood glamour-themed ball, hosted by The Black Swan. Experience a cinematic odyssey through a multitude of performances including electric jazz, silver screen drag queens and cirque coquetry. It's your shot to prove you've still got moves.
PHASE FOUR: GET HIGH ON OYSTERS
Tanjong Beach Club
17 June 2017, from 11.30am
What's a festival without seafood and champagne? Grab your favourite crew and tuck into Tanjong Beach Club's Bottomless Brunch, which features a live meat carving station, a delightful oyster bar, a range of coastal classics and unlimited bubbly (at a small extra cost). Your Instagram feed will thank you.
PHASE FIVE: CLEANSE YOUR SYSTEM
21 June 2017, 6pm to 8pm
After all that excessive drinking, we figured you should definitely cleanse your system. A.muse Projects rolls out an insightful tea workshop at the picture-perfect Looksee Looksee, where participants will learn about different tea ingredients and how to use them for natural rejuvenation in their everyday lives.
PHASE SIX: PRETEND YOU'RE STILL IN SCHOOL
24 June 2017, 9pm to 3am
It's amazing to be in denial sometimes, especially when it comes to your age. At OverEasy Orchard's Guilty Pleasures party centered around the CW series, Riverdale, you'll feel all of 18 again. With a killer DJ set spinning the good feels, here's where your high school reunion begins. You're highly encouraged to come dressed in back-to-school outfits as the best-dressed folks stand to win attractive prizes. Your sleeveless blue or pinafore (if it still fits) might just stand a good chance.
The Lo & Behold Festival runs from 2 June to 24 June 2017. Get your tickets to The Lo & Behold Festival here.
