Airbnb x Paris' Louvre Museum: A night with Mona Lisa in the iconic glass pyramid

Night at the museum

Text: Corinne Cheah

If you have ever been to the iconic Louvre hoping to get up close and personal with the world-famous portrait of Mona Lisa, you would know that that is practically an impossible task. Standing one feet behind a barricade of ropes that is manned by tight security and surrounded by fellow tourists that jostle to snap a decent picture of the painting — consider yourself fortunate if you manage to capture part of Mona Lisa's face. This however, is all about to change for two lucky people with the new partnership between the Louvre and Airbnb

For one night only, on April 30, you could cosy up to the various masterpieces housed at the museum. To celebrate their 30th anniversary, a uniquely designed mini pyramid will be built in the iconic glass pyramid. That's where you'll be sleeping, under the watchful presence of the medieval fortress that encircles the museum. Pop-up dining room with Venus of Milo

As the sun sets on Paris and people make their way to fancy restaurants for dinner or to the majestic Eiffel Tower, the winners will be given the star treatment as they are greeted by an art historian and given a personal tour of the museum after dark. Start with toasting Mona Lisa with a renaissance-inspired aperitif as you unwind into lush Parisian lounge sofas — all while enjoying French music on vinyl records in the background. Move on to the pop-up dining room where you will be treated to an opulent feast with the company of Venus of Milo and revel in an intimate acoustic concert in Napoleon III's apartments.

This partnership will not be limited to just this collaborative effort — but will last from May till the end of this year. You can expect more experiences such as exclusive visits and intimate concerts to be made available on the Airbnb platform.

To enter, go to before April 12 at 23h59 (French time - GMT+1) and answer this question: why would you be the Mona Lisa's perfect guest? One winner will be selected. All terms and conditions of the contest are available here
