Fancy cycling up a glacier? Try the augmented reality fitness bikes at Pure Fitness
The new playground
The Pure Group is no stranger to the fitness circle in Singapore — and now they have come to dominate the heart of Orchard Road, with Pure Fitness' newest gym at Ngee Ann City.
Through the lift doors on the 8th floor, you'll find yourself in their 28,000 sq ft fitness playground, touted to be Singapore's most progressive and purpose-built facility. The massive space holds plenty of training zones, all of which have been ingeniously positioned to look like an exciting play area — including a 30m sprint track, sports bleachers, circuits with ropes and monkey frames, and even a strongman area with full equipment.
Sounds impressive? All that is just the tip of the iceberg. What's revolutionary is the gym's debut of Innovation Lab — the first of its kind in Singapore — featuring Life Fitness bikes rallied with VirZOOM technology. Your cycling routine is brought to "life" thanks to the AR device, which transports you into a simulated game. Fancy galloping on a horse and catching bandits? That can be orchestrated while you work up a sweat on the bike pedals.
If you're more of a team player, join an Immersive Cycling class in the gym's astounding 270° Immersive Fitness studio. Powered by the world-renowned Les Mills, you'll be led to trippy dimensions of steep glaciers, space age cities, and even under the sea. We were treated to a sensorial experience during the 45-minute workout, which obliterated the reality of any gruelling spin class.
Besides its tech-savvy equipment, fitness programmes like reformer Pilates, barre classes and other small group activities are available for you to choose from. Post-workout, members of the gym can unwind with an hour in the sauna or visit their spiffy lounge for a delicious protein shake.
The doors officially open to the public in 1st December — we say it's time to get physical in this sleek new space.
