Off-Active: Virgil Abloh's Off White launches new activewear collection
Adapted for sport
Eight years since its inception, Virgil Abloh's Off-White has been setting the fashion world ablaze with designs and trends that blur the lines between sport, high-fashion, and art. Touted for using stylised items in his pieces — and for high-profile collaborations with brands like Nike and Jimmy Choo, Abloh prides his brand in creating items that are both functional and contemporary.
The brand’s new activewear collection – Off-Active – draws inspiration from Abloh’s atelier, with classic silhouettes adapted for sport and crafted in premium Italian performance fabrics.
Offering options for both men and women, Off-Active features Abloh's take on contemporary sportswear. With technical garment construction and contemporary aesthetics, the womenswear features a collection of leggings, sports bras and tights that come three distinct iterations: pink, black, and monochrome brushstroke. The menswear offering features active tops, hoodies, legging and shorts in colours of blue, grey and black. Tallying up the apparel is a selection of gym bags, drawstring bags, and socks that flaunt the signature logo. The symbol can also be found in the detailing of the apparel — whether it be waistbands and sleeves.
Rounding off the launch, the brand enlisted photographer and filmmaker Aidan Zamiri to create a visual around different understandings towards the meaning of “being active.” The video sees dancers Calm Zulu and Jakub Franasowicz putting the collection in action — over a green screen alternating between bird's eye views of cities and landscapes, as well as satellite images — in line with its futuristic theme.
The collection is slated for a worldwide release in September this year. If you can't bear to wait that long, head off to their website to check out the entire Off-Active collection.
