Yes, you can have your pineapple tart and eat it too

We've barely managed to burn off those calories from Christmas only to find the Lunar New Year upon us. The one thing more difficult than fending off nosy relatives is resisting the allure of Lunar New Year goodies. They come in glorious shapes and forms: butter-filled pineapple tarts, glistening slices of sugar-glazed bak kwa, and ghee-laden sugee cookies. For anyone looking to keep up their "new year, new me" diet resolutions, this season spells nothing but trouble.

Thankfully, the good folk over at Boxgreen, a homegrown online snack delivery service dedicated to bringing you nutritious bites, have rolled out some wholesome alternatives for your festive table. Think cranberry chia cookies made with wheat floor and reduced doses of sugar; green pea rounds featuring antioxidant-packed Purpleberry wholegrain flour; and our favourite — matcha pineapple tarts made with fresh pineapples and Japanese matcha powder. The kicker? These matcha pineapple tarts contain one-third the calorie count of regular pineapple tarts
