Festive feasting: Our Christmas dining guide

Joyeux Noël

Whether you're after an intimate meal for two, Christmas buffet with friends, or a festive feast at home, we've got you covered

Christmas Jaan

Where: JAAN

When: Now till 31 December 2015

Why go: JAAN might have a new Chef de Cuisine at the helm, but the stunning sky-high views from this intimate 40-seater fine dining restaurant remain. With Chef Kirk Westaway working the pass, every morsel — right from the delicately crafted amuse bouche platter — pays homage to the finest produce of the season, all transformed with Modern French flair. Christmas-inspired dishes here include white truffle chestnut velouté with potato gnocchi and roasted Challans duck with Italian fig — all touched with Modern French flair.

The westin singapore lobby lounge christmas

Where: Lobby Lounge, The Westin Singapore

When: Now till 31 December 2015

Why go: If all that holiday feasting is too intense for you, graze on festive nibbles at the Lobby Lounge's afternoon tea. A three-tiered platter pulls together seafood offerings such as Alaskan king crab with garlic butter while sweet treats come in the form of petite fruit cakes and macarons. Needless to say, champagne forms part of the equation as well.

Catalunya Christmas

Where: Catalunya

When: 25 to 27 December 2015

Why go: Weekend brunches at Catalunya are nothing short of epic, and for Christmas, they're upping the ante with a 30-dish spread that celebrates all things Spanish. The three-hour affair will see Jamon Iberico flowing freely while the kitchen serves up freshly roasted cuts of suckling pig, steaming pans of seafood paella, and a host of salads and stews. Save room for dessert — especially since there's churros involved. If you're bringing the little ones, they will receive a Christmas-themed craft kit to keep them busy while you knock back a few glasses of wine.

The Line Christmas 2015

Where: The Line, Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore

When: Now till 31 December 2015

Why go: If no one can agree on their cuisine of choice, settling for a buffet is the easiest way to avert World War III. With 16 live stations dishing out everything from oysters and sashimi to slow-roasted Wagyu beef, it's safe to say that you'll find a little something for everyone. A traditional roast turkey, English drunken fruit cake, and Christmas pudding all add to the festive cheer. Game for a truly merry Christmas? A modest supplement will give you access to an unlimited flow of sparkling, red, and white wines.

Goodwood Park Hotel's Portuguese-style curry turkey

Where: Grandma's

When: Christmas eve or Christmas day

Why go: Your home's aglow with Christmas lights and the presents are already nestled under the tree. Instead of building dinner from scratch, leave all the hard work to the pros while you sit back with a glass of glühwein in hand. Goodwood Park Hotel's Portuguese-style curry turkey (advance orders of three working days are required) will easily feed 10 to 12. Think of it as curry chicken on steroids, but one that shines with an aromatic blend of ginger, dried chillies and turmeric.

St Regis Christmas hamper

For dessert, fill your Christmas table with sweet treats from The St. Regis Singapore. Their christmas hamper packs in a brandied cherry fruitcake, Christmas Stollen, Christmas pudding, handcrafted chocolates and an assortment of Christmas cookies. You can also brew yourself a warming cup of TWG's Christmas Tea, but not before you pop the Ruinart Champagne.
