Tippling Club transforms Penhaligon’s Sartorial perfume into a cocktail
Why spritz your perfume when you can drink it too?

The next time you head down to the Tippling Club, don't be alarmed if you see someone drinking out of a perfume bottle. The bar has collaborated with English fragrance house Penhaligon's to roll out a cocktail based on one of their most intense fougère fragrances – Sartorial.

It's hard to imagine Sartorial as a cocktail. The fragrance, as its name suggests, distills the environs of a Savile Row tailor's workroom. Think tobacco tinted cabinetry and a lingering air of musk. Kamil Foltan, head bartender of Tippling Club, has somehow managed to jazz up the brief by playing with a whisky body for the cocktail. Aromatic angostura bitters are reminiscent of the perfume's key notes of beeswax and neroli while the honey-infused Monkey Shoulder whisky introduces an incredibly smooth and long finish to the drink. A theatrical flourish comes in a cloud of hay-scented smoke that touches the nose once you uncork the bottle.

It might be easy to dismiss Foltan's creation as a novelty drink, but his masterful approach in building this cocktail makes this a bolder alternative to the classic Old Fashioned or Manhattan. Enjoy with a cigar in hand.
