Three to try: Cool licks, a boozy takeover, and moreish dishes along Haji Lane

Our shortlist of the best eats and treats in town

Vinyl pleasures 2.0 
The blogshops at Haji Lane might come and go, but over at LongPlay, vinyl records continue to whirl as their affable bartenders dish up cocktail after cocktail for those seeking more than shisha and Moroccan mint tea. Now that chef Jorge Valderrama is helming the kitchen, bar snacks aren't the only nibbles you can look forward to. There's excellent grilled squid to be had, made better with a spicy, moreish stuffing of chorizo. The house-made charcuterie platter comprising smoked andouilles, saucisson sec, pork cheek terrine and pickled mussels (a welcome outlier) is perfect for sharing, especially if you're knocking back a cocktail or two with friends. We wouldn't say no to a second helping of beef onglet either — one seared to medium rare perfection and sided with a winning combination of celeriac puree and parsley chimichurri.

Cool licks 
Now that the mercury's on the rise, the opening of I SEE i SEE couldn't have come at a better time. This Hong Kong-born popsicle kiosk dishes up fruit and milk-based ice pops that are pretty much your childhood treats elevated with premium ingredients the likes of Hokkaido milk, flavourful figs, and even D24 durian. Our favourites? The creamy Strawberry Hokkaido Milk featuring generous chunks of strawberries; smooth and aromatic Earl Grey Pistachio sprinkled with hand-crushed pistachios; and Cheesy Raspberry, which tastes just like cheesecake on a stick — but one infinitely cooler by degrees.

A boozy takeover
Come 31 March, whisky lovers have much to cheer about as The Macallan Restaurant & Bar takes over The Black Swan.
