Shake Shack will land in Singapore's Jewel Changi Airport this 2019
The rumours were true. This 2019, we'll be expecting the entry of New York burger chain — or more accurately — cult burger phenomenon, Shake Shack onto our sunny shores. You have either tasted it at one of their many international outposts (with their iconic outlet standing at Madison Square Park) or have seen the roadside burgers flooding your Instagram feeds.
Our first Shack will debut in the stunning Jewel Changi Airport; which is also set to house other exciting F&B tenants — with the likes of A&W making its comeback there. Amongst its signature items like the ShackBurger, Shack-cago Dog and classic crinkle-cut fries, locals can look forward to a unique twist of offerings leaning towards our city's food culture and heritage. The brand will be working with local purveyors and producers to make Shake Shack Singapore a little different as compared to the impressions of a carbon-copy franchise.
While we're definitely thrilled for the imminent opening, a little part inside us foreshadow the elusive magic weaning off the once-covetable burger brand that we would have easily hopped on a plane for. Especially with the recent influx of international burger brands arriving on our competitive culinary scene; the idea of novelty could wear off in no time.
What would this mean for Shake Shack Singapore? Will our local outpost match up to the soaring expectations? Either way, we'll be the eager ones queuing for the first bite.
