"Oh no biggie, just having lunch with Rihanna seated at the next table."

Unless you've been living under a rock, you probably know that awards season is upon us. As the bustling streets of Los Angeles see a spike in A-listers from out of town, it's also a pretty good time for common folk (like ourselves) who are incidentally in the sprawling city.

To ride the wave of this glitzy period — from now till March (when the Oscars take place) — we have rounded up the best dining spots where celebrities are most likely to frequent, as listed by Dinesh Balasingam, chief operating officer of Chope, a.k.a. major film buff and recurring attendee at the Primetime Emmy Awards. Want to rub shoulders with Sharon Stone or Robert Pattinson while grabbing dinner? Consider this list your way in.

The Ivy

Celebrities spotted: Mariah Carey, Jennifer Aniston, Quentin Tarantino, and Sharon Stone

It's always a good sign when the paps are constantly swarming in. Enter The Ivy, an iconic restaurant touted for its French flora décor and rotating list of famous diners. Serving up a decent Californian menu, expect to dig into Louisiana crab cakes and Santa Barbara shrimp tacos.

Sugarfish Sushi

Celebrities spotted: Taylor Swift, Larry David, Kylie Jenner, and Charlize Theron

This no-frills hotspot has earned a pristine reputation and loyal following, not from its stunning décor but through fresh fins and delicious hand rolls in an omakase menu. The food is the main draw at this humble joint, having even won the hearts of picky eaters like Larry David. A word of caution: Sugarfish's chef Kazunori Nozawa frowns upon diners who add wasabi to their soy sauce, or dip seasoned items into it.

Catch L.A.

Celebrities spotted: Sofia Vergara, Eva Longoria, Fergie, The Weeknd, and Robin Thicke

Diners can find themselves drinking in breathtaking views of downtown LA and the Hollywood Hills from a rooftop while digging into amazing seafood from Catch's signature open kitchen. Best time to visit? Definitely for dinner or late-night drinks. A handful of celebs like Robin Thicke and Jake Gyllenhaal were spotted celebrating an occasion there. Who knows, you might just get lucky.

Chateau Marmont

Celebrities spotted: Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Jay-Z, and Lady Gaga

The old Hollywood-glamour hotel is known for housing young stars like Robert Pattinson and Lady Gaga, so that naturally bodes well for its dining options. Fun fact: A ton of pre and post-award show parties are also held at this spot.  Make sure to head down during lunch, where celebrities have been spotted occupying the Chateau Marmont restaurant's patio area. Even the carb-loaded dishes are said to be served in tiny "actor-friendly" proportions – famished diners might want to order an extra portion.

Giorgio Baldi

Celebrities spotted: Rihanna, Kate Hudson, George Clooney, and James Corden

Fans of Riri, this is the place to stake out at. Giorgio Baldi is touted to be the singer's favourite dining spot in LA — she even has a table reserved indefinitely. So clear out your day's schedule, grab a table, and order a few of their signature pastas and salads while you wait. We wouldn't miss out on this tip-off.
