Nespresso’s latest machine allows you to master your own latte art
When did a cup of coffee become so Instagram-worthy? We're guessing from the time baristas started pouring perfectly-shaped hearts into our cups. While looks aren't supposedly everything, the makings of a covetable cuppa do involve getting the artwork down pat.
Whether it's executing the lines of a heart, a rosetta or the final swan, it all boils down to how well the milk is frothed to its ideal consistency, which can be hard to grasp if you're not a professional barista. But here to help you with that intimidating step is the brand-new Creatista Plus, Nespresso's first machine that produces multiple foam textures with its built-in presets. Joining forces with Australian kitchen appliance brand, Breville, the spiffy machine is fitted with a polished stainless steel exterior and shiny chrome details. Talk about a stunning piece of armour, fit for your kitchen.
Like every Nespresso creation, the coffee-making process is easy — first, select your preferred coffee (either a Flat White, Cappuccino, Café Latte or Latte Macchiato), fill up the milk jug, and place it on the temperature sensor. Just like that, the milk automatically heats to the ideal temperature with a nifty steam wand frothing it to the perfect texture for your drink of choice. While the machine is already equipped with programmed temperatures and quantities as recommended by the Nespresso experts, you can still easily personalise and change it depending on your coffee preference — for example, if you prefer your cup of joe extra-hot.
Ultimately, you're still in charge of the final pouring stage but with its unique "micro-milk foam" feature, the latte art creation process is much easier to master. With a little practice, you'll be churning out those hearts in no time.
The Nespresso Creatista Plus machine is available from 21 July at all Nespresso boutiques.
